Aardklop and the Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool are stepping up to contribute to the arts environment by taking hands to create, Aardklop Aubade, a classical music offering in Pretoria.
“We are proud to announce Aardklop Aubade – a classical music offering right here in Pretoria! Despite an array of challenges and disappointments we all had to face in 2020, we are now forced to look at the world through a different lens. Aardklop has always seen challenges as opportunities and therefore we are excited to close the 2020 chapter on a high note. Christmas is a time of celebration, joy and hope and we hope to bring just that to our loyal supporters in Gauteng.”, Alexa Strachan, Aardklop CEO.
The first Aardklop Aubade concert to look forward to is Carols and Chords. This beautiful Christmas concert will be produced and directed by celebrated Steinway artist, Charl du Plessis. It will be presented on 13 December at the Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool in Pretoria.
Charl, along with Lizelle le Roux (violinist) and Ockie Vermeulen (organist) welcome the Christmas season by celebrating it with everyone’s favourite Christmas carols of the past 300 years. Audiences can look forward to a programme that will include favourites like Silent Night, Somerkersfees and O Come All Ye Faithful. Affies learner, Rohan Grobbelaar, a grade 10 saxophone player will start the programme with a short guest appearance.
Charl du Plessis is a Steinway artist and internationally acclaimed classical and jazz pianist. He has 10 albums and won two SAMA awards.
Ockie Vermeulen is a celebrated organist who has released four albums. He is simultaneously Unisa’s official organst as well as the organist at the NG Church Pretoria-East.
Lizelle le Roux is South Africa’s most-recognizable violinist and was part of the duo, Eclipse. She is the soloist for many of South Africa’s biggest music productions and just released her first solo-album, Joy.
